Silver STAR & Flexible Demand Response (FDR)

What is Silver STAR?
A growing population of senior citizens in Las Vegas and an increasing demand for mobility required the RTC to establish Silver STAR & FDR.

For this reason, the RTC worked with valley seniors to identify neighborhood routes to help meet their mobility needs. The result was the addition of loop routes on a schedule that operates two days a week in a limited area. The service is open to the entire community, but was designed with senior citizens in mind including stops at assisted living and senior community centers and various shopping locations.

Every Silver Star route connects with regular RTC fixed-route service to provide a broad range of destinations for passengers. Riders can use 30-day passes for boarding and each Silver Star vehicle can accommodate up to two wheelchairs at a time.

What is Flexible Demand Response(FDR)?

Flexible Demand Response (FDR), is a curb-to-curb transit service provided by the RTC. The service is currently available in the Sun City Anthem, Sun City Summerlin, and Centennial Hills communities. FDR was developed to allow residents to call and schedule rides on a public transit system that would not otherwise be available in their area.

FDR intersects RTC fixed-route transportation routes throughout the service area, which allows riders to use fixed-route service to meet transportation needs that take them outside their neighborhood communities and throughout Clark County.

Who is eligible to ride?
All residents within Sun City Anthem, Sun City Summerlin, and Centennial Hills are eligible to use the FDR service. Though targeted towards senior citizens within the communities, anyone who registers for the program can ride. One guest per registered resident is also eligible for the service.

How does the service work?
FDR operates three days a week on a limited schedule. Those interested in using the service will need to register by calling 228-7433 and pressing 7, 228-1834 (TDD), or by mailing a completed registration form to the RTC. Once registered, users will receive a special identification card for the system.

Rides are scheduled by calling 228-7433 or 228-1834 (TDD) and may be scheduled up to three days in advance of the trip. Customer Service Representatives take reservations seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Passengers may also be able to schedule same-day rides if service is available.

It is the rider’s responsibility to schedule ride times. When making a reservation, pick-up times must be firm. If a passenger misses a ride during
Call Center operating hours, he/she may call the number on the back of the I.D. card to attempt to reschedule the ride.
