LAS VEGAS – For the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday Monday, Jan. 17, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) will operate its fixed route transit system on a Saturday transit schedule. Transit customers can plan their trip using the free and easy-to-use rideRTC app.
Additionally, The RTC will once again be participating in this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, as our community celebrates the accomplishments of this civil rights icon. The parade will be held in Downtown Las Vegas, and is accessible to everyone in the community. Full details about the parade can be found at kingweeklasvegas.com.
Please note that due to an increase in pandemic-related issues and an industry-wide labor shortage, the RTC is experiencing service interruptions throughout our transit system. We understand that our riders daily lives and routines are being impacted and we are encouraging riders to sign up for route-specific text and email alerts, and stay up-to-date on any bus delays using the rideRTC app.
“The RTC is proud to participate in Southern Nevada’s 40th annual celebration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said M.J. Maynard, RTC chief executive officer. “His teachings are valued within our agency and we will continue to be a community partner in celebrating Dr. King’s achievements and others who support diversity, equity and inclusion.”
As a reminder, masks are still required on all RTC buses and in all RTC facilities. In addition to continued cleaning and safety measures implemented through our 14-Point Safety Plan, the RTC has added mobile ticketing, negatively-charged air ion cleaners and micro-bacterial shields to keep buses clean and keep you safe.
