Earlier this week, more than two dozen volunteers laced up their walking shoes to help shape the future of the community by joining the RTC and City Of Henderson in a walk audit. What is a walk audit? It’s a close-up look at the many conditions that can impact walkability in an area including lighting, access for mobility devices and transit stops, uneven surfaces and overall comfort.
This coordinated effort is part of a larger long-term plan to ensure the College Area of Henderson provides a quality and equitable experience for pedestrians and cyclists. Volunteers endured the chilly weather to collect data and information along a three-mile route.
Feedback from the walk audit will be incorporated into the Livable Centers Study, part of the broader plan to expand and upgrade transportation options in the 1,400-acre College Area of Henderson over the next 10 to 20 years.
You can learn more about the College Area Livable Centers Study on the City Of Henderson’s website.
